OXYHEAT – Bleaching / Sterilization

What is Oxyheat®?

Oxyheat is a process of sterilisation and bleaching of wool developed and patented by Recuperación de Materiales Textiles S.A.

The treatment uses oxygenated water and high temperature to achieve disinfection and high degrees of bleaching.

Why Oxyheat®?

When treated with hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and temperatures above 90°C, any microbes are killed, leaving a sterilised wool. The hydrogen peroxide interacts with the surface of the wool, oxidising it and achieving a substantial bleaching effect. As it is a surface treatment, the fibres are less damaged in terms of mechanical resistance than with an equivalent treatment by immersion. The treatment has a minimal environmental footprint as it is a landfill-free treatment and consumes 90% less water than conventional bleaching.Splash
